Alberta School of Business MBA Scholarships 2024-2025

The Alberta School of Business, located at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, is one of the leading business schools in the country. For those interested in pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, there are several scholarships available to help offset the cost of tuition and related expenses. As of my last update in today, here are some scholarships available for MBA students at the Alberta School of Business.

Types of Alberta MBA Scholarships

There are several types of MBA scholarships available at the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Each of them has different funding.

Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship

Students may reside within or outside of Alberta. Students may be enrolled classes remotely/online or in-person. Current students must be registered full-time in Fall and/or Winter terms. Students must demonstrate academic excellence. Current students must have earned a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.3 or greater over the most recent 15 units of course weight in current program. Where there is less than 15 graded credits in current program, admission GPA (AGPA) is a weighted factor. Studetns admitted in Fall or Winter in which graded coursework is not yet available in the current program, the Admission GPA (AGPA) will be used.

Amount – $12,000

Claude Winspear MBA Award

Awarded annually to outstanding student(s) who are registered full-time in an MBA program at the University of Alberta. Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated leadership through involvement and participation in university or community organizations, sports or cultural activities, and academic standing.

Previous scholastic achievement is one factor to be considered, but not necessarily the determining factor, when making an award. Preference will be given to students newly admitted to the MBA program and who satisfy any one of the following three criteria:

1. A student who has a background of social entrepreneurship or who has the intent to enter this field of specialization subsequent to completion of the MBA degree.

2. A student who is from the arts community and who is interested in acquiring business management skills with the intent of returning to the arts community.

3. A student who is interested in acquiring an additional language through an international exchange course.

Amount – $10,000

Dr Richard (Rick) Hyndman MBA Entrance Scholarship in Energy, Environment and Public Policy

Awarded annually to a student(s) entering their first year of full-time or part-time study in the MBA program at the Alberta School of Business. Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in public policy and experience working in the field of energy/environment. The recipient(s) will be selected on the basis of superior academic standing and a letter of application outlining career aspirations.

Amount – $4,500

MBA Part-time Arbitrium

Awarded annually to a part-time MBA student. Award to a student seeking to improve their work-life-school balance through participation in extracurricular and/or volunteer activities within the MBA Association and/or the university of Alberta. The recipient must not hold other award(s) or scholarship(s) valued at $15,000 or greater during the tenure of this award.

Amount – $1,500

MacDonald Family MBA Scholarship in Public Sector Excellence

Awarded annually to a student who registered full- or part-time in a Master of Business Administration at the Alberta School of Business. Preference will be given to applicants who is working in the not for profit sector or public sector, or who has left either sector to pursue the MBA with an intent to return to the nonprofit or public sector post-MBA. Selection will be based on academic achievement and demonstrated excellence in public service. Applicants must submit a letter of reference from their current or mostrecent employer outlining the applicant’s demonstrated excellence in public service.

Amount – $2,000

How to Apply for Alberta MBA Scholarship

Unlike entrance awards, scholarships are usually awarded to students during the MBA program. The exact criteria for each scholarship are different, but scholarships are typically designed to recognize excellence both academically and outside of the classroom. For any scholarships that require an application, we will solicit applications directly from students.
